Getting Started

Follow these steps to quickly restore purity to your office environment.

1. Installation & Execution

  1. Go to GitHub Releases to download the latest .exe installer.
  2. Run the installer. CWS relies on the .NET 8 Runtime; if it is not installed on your computer, the program will prompt you to download it.
  3. Once installation is complete, CWS will run automatically and appear in the bottom right corner of your desktop (or as a floating ball).

2. Core Operation Guide

Repairing File Associations

In the "File Associations" tab of the main interface:

  • Click [Set to Office] to force-restore the Microsoft Office suite associations.
  • Click [Set to WPS] to switch to the WPS Office environment.

Resolving Icon Issues

If you find that icons do not update after switching:

NOTICE

Click "Clear Icon Cache" on the interface. CWS will automatically restart explorer.exe (Windows Explorer). This is normal behavior, so please do not be alarmed.

Floating Ball Shortcuts

Right-click the floating ball on your desktop to directly execute:

  • [x] Quick Icon Refresh
  • [x] One-click PPT Association Repair
  • [x] Wake Main Window

3. FAQ

Q: Why are administrator privileges required?

  • A: Modifying system file associations and restarting Windows Explorer involves registry operations, which must be performed with administrator rights.

Q: Which file formats are supported?

  • A: Currently, the tool primarily targets PPT and PPTX files, where conflicts are most severe. Support for Word and Excel will be added in future updates.
